HI. MY NAME IS JAKE. I'm a second-generation farmer who grew up working with grapes and stone fruit and berries and vegetables and decided to try my hand at pigs.

I'm from a family of food lovers and animal lovers. My goal is to keep animals in a way we can all be proud of - I want our pig’s lives to be filled with joy until the day they die. And then I want them to be delicious.

The pigs on Flora Ranch live in an acre pen with oak, manzanita, and pine trees for shade. Right now there are three of them, but that changes from season to season. One of the things I love about my pig’s lives is how much room they have to roam. They delight in it.

I give the pigs as much scrap as I can get my hands on, mostly old baked goods and dairy. If you've never tasted pork raised on scraps, you don't know what you're missing.

If you know something about farming pigs that you think I ought to know, or if you have any questions about how we started Flora and why, just HOLLER.

Be Good. - Jake
